中学生対象レシテーションコンテストの決勝がHELLO Villageで行われ、予選を勝ち抜いた中学生10名がレシテーションを行いました。今年度の課題文は「Do the Small Things in a Big Way」で，小さなことを積み重ねることで大きなことも実現できるという考え方について語ったものです。
　参加者たちは発表が始まるまでは緊張した面持ちでしたが，一人一人が内容をしっかり解釈し、自分なりの思いを込めて、身振り手振りと共に素晴らしい暗唱を披露してくれました。クリス村長も述べていた通り，全ての発表がレベルが大変高く，また感情がこもっており，私たちの心に響きました。参加者の皆さん、大変印象的なレシテーションをありがとうございました。
　レシテーション終了後は本校生徒ともに、英語のゲームを楽しみました。初めて出会う生徒同士でペアを組み、話し合いながらゲームを行うことで、それぞれがコミュニケーションの楽しさを感じてくれていたように思います。
　参加者、スタッフ、一人一人の尽力により、無事に開催され、素晴らしい大会となりましたこと、心より御礼申し上げます。今後もHELLO Village では様々な越境体験を提供していければ思っています。

　On Nov. 12th, the 16th Hiyoshigaoka Recitation Contest was held at HELLO Village. This time, 10 junior high school students who passed the screening process joined the final competition.
　The assignment this year was ‘Do the Small Things in a Big Way’ which tells us the importance of keeping doing small things little by little. Although all speakers first looked nervous, once they started their performances, they showed the clear understanding of the essay and made great performances with effective gestures.
　As Kris, the Mayor of HELLO Village, said, all the speeches were so nice and expressive that we were all touched by them. Thank you for your impressive speeches.
　When the judges had the serious problem deciding which speech was the best, Hiyoshi students presented ‘mini Pub Quiz’ for honoring the contestants. 10 junior high school students this time made teams and worked together, each enjoying communicating with other contestants in English.
　We are really glad that we had the recitation contest this year in this era of COVID-19. We hope HELLO Village keeps offering opportunities for various crossing-border experiences.
