On July 15, nine students from Temple University joined the English Café, where they played games and had conversations in English with our students. The activity provided a fun opportunity to practice English, build confidence, and make new connections.

After introducing themselves, the students formed small groups and participated in a variety of interactive English activities. They played Taboo, a game that challenged them to expand their vocabulary and think creatively in English. They also enjoyed Listen and Slap, a fast-paced game in which students competed to identify the correct sentence by listening carefully, strengthening both their listening skills and quick thinking.

Authentic interactions with international students like this gave our students a beneficial experience to use English in meaningful, real-world communication. More importantly, the experience showed that English is not only a language to learn but also a way to connect with others.

The English Café was more than an opportunity to practice English—it was a chance to build connections. Through games, conversations, and collaboration, students from Kogakuin and Temple University strengthened their language skills, formed new friendships, and discovered how English can bring people together across cultures.
