HELLO Village Week I Day3

　HELLO Village Week３日目は，放課後にミッションの獲得ポイントが２倍になる「Globy Point Spree」が開催されました。多くの生徒たちがHELLO Villageを訪れ，英語の4技能が向上するように工夫された様々なミッションをこなしていました。例えば，生徒たちは「How Music Has Affected Your Life」についてALTたちに2分間説明するスピーキングの課題をこなしたり，「A Song That Is Special to You」というトピックについて，その理由を説明するライティングの課題をこなしたりしていました。それ以外にも，生徒たちは英語でALTたちと「Connect 4」や「JENGA」といったゲームで勝負したり，校内に隠されたメッセージを探し回ったりと，ポイント2倍の時間を存分に楽しんでいました。

　On Jun. 17th, we had the third event in HELLO Village Week I, ‘Globy Point Spree’. In this event, students can get double Globy points when they complete missions.
　Quite a few students visited HELLO Village and carried out their missions after school. These missions are designed for students to improve four English language skills. For example, one speaking mission is to talk about ‘How music has affected your life’ to ALTs for two minutes, and one writing mission is to choose a song that is special to students and explain why that song is special for them. Moreover, in order to get Globy points, students enjoyed playing games such as ‘Connect 4’ and ‘JENGA’ against ALTs, and walking around the school for finding hidden Globy massages.

HELLO Village Week I Day2

　HELLO Village Week２日目は，音楽に関する様々な問題に挑戦する「Music Quiz」が開催されました。生徒たちはチームごとに分かれ，チームメイトと協力してALTのエイスリンさんとジェシカさんから出題される問題に答えていました。生徒が挑戦したクイズをいくつか紹介：曲の一部を聞いてタイトルとシンガーを答える「Guess the Song」，与えられた言葉をタイトルに持つ曲を答える「Song Association」，曲の一部を聞いてジャンルを答える「Guess the Genre」など。生徒たちはクイズに出てきたお気に入りの曲を一緒に歌ったり，ピアノを演奏したりして楽しい時間を過ごしていました。

　On Jun. 16th, we had the second event in HELLO Village Week I, ‘Music Quiz’. In this event, students made groups and worked together with other team members for answering music questions. Some music quizzes are ‘Guess the Song’ (guessing the title and singer of a song by listening to a part of the song), ‘Song Association’ (finding the title of a song that includes a word given by ALTs), ‘Guess the Genre’ (answering the genre of a song by listening to the song). Some students enjoyed singing their favorite songs that appeared in the quizzes.

HELLO Village Week I Day1

　HELLO Village Week I（6月15日〜21日）が本日から始まりました。今回のテーマは「The Power of Music」で，音楽の歴史，世界各地の音楽，音楽の力・効果などについて学び，世界共通語としての音楽の可能性を探ります。
　初日の今日は、放課後イベントとしてALTのプレゼンテーション「Music Around the World」が行われました。
　まずALTのダニエルさんのパートでは，生徒たちは「世界にはどのような種類の音楽があるのか」などの問いについて話し合ったあと，世界の民族音楽についてその歴史的な背景などを含めて学びました。そのあと，「A whole New World」といったみんなが知っている英語の歌のサビを一緒に歌いました。
　次にALTのハロルドさんのパートでは，まずギター演奏とともにポップミュージックとは何かについての説明がありました。そして，リズムについてのミニレッスンを受けた後，生徒たちは身の回りにある紙コップやプラスチックのフタなどを使って自分だけの楽器を作り，思い思いの音を奏でました。
　HELLO Village Week Iは5日間の開催予定で21日（火）まで続きます。この後も、「Music Quiz」，「Hiyoshi Idol Talent Show」，「The Power of Music Presentation」などイベントが目白押しです。これからも英語村ではしっかりと感染予防対策を行いながら，英語や海外の文化に触れあう機会を提供していきます。

　HELLO Village Week I got started Today! The theme this time is ‘the Power of Music’. In this event, students learn the history of music, various kinds of music around the world, the power and effects of music, and then explore the possibility of music as a universal language.
　On the first day, students enjoyed experiencing music around the world with the guidance of our ALT Daniel and Harold.
　In Daniel’s part, students discussed questions such as ‘what genres of music are there in this world?’, and then Daniel explained various kinds of fork music in the world with their histories. After that, students and ALTs together sung famous English songs such as ‘A Whole New World’ and ‘Let It Go’.
　In Harold’s part, he first explained what pop music is with his guitar demonstration. After students had a mini rhythm lesson from Harold, they made their own musical instruments, using daily materials such as paper cups and plastic lids. They then enjoyed playing music by their instruments!
　In HELLO Village Week, various events such as ‘Music Quiz' and ‘The Power of Music Presentation’ are waiting for students. We are going to offer various opportunities for them to enjoy English and foreign cultures, taking appropriate preventive measures for protecting students from infection.

Friday 7th Period Event @ HELLO Village

　６月３日（金），１年生向けの金曜７限イベントが英語村で開催されました。英語村に集まった１年生たちは５チームに分かれ、ALTのハロルドさんから出題される様々なクイズにチームメイトと協力して挑み，楽しく学ぶ時を過ごしました。
　今回出題されたクイズをいくつかご紹介：提示されたトピックに関連する単語を挙げる「Category」，他のチームの解答を予測して同じ解答を導き出す「Common Answer」，与えられた事柄を順番に並べる「Put in Order」。生徒たちは正解するたびにチームメイトと喜びながら，楽しく英語を学んでいました。
　この後も，英語村では金曜７限イベントを含め，英語や海外の文化に触れあう機会をできるかぎり提供していきたいと思っております。

　On June. 3rd, there was ‘Friday 7th Period Event’ for first graders at HELLO Village. About 20 students (5 teams) joined this event and enjoyed the quiz challenge from an ALT Harold!
　The students worked together with other team-members for solving the following quizzes: ‘Category’ (listing items categorized as ‘school subjects’,‘metal things’, and so on), ‘Common Answers’ (guessing the same answer shared by other teams), ‘Put in Order’ (putting in order 10 sight-seeing places in terms of popularity). Every time they got a right answer, they shared the joy with their team members.
　We are planning to offer more events for students to enjoy English and foreign cultures.

PUB QUIZ @ HELLO Village

　5月10日（火），毎学期恒例となっている「Pub Quiz」が英語村で開催されました。放課後，英語村に集まった生徒たちは７チームに分かれ、クリス村長から出題される様々なクイズにチームメイトと協力して挑みました。
　今回出題された問題は、碁盤の目のように並んだ文字から意味のある言葉（学校で見かけるもの）を探し出す「Word Search」、今年のGWで人気の観光地を順に並べる「Picture Round」，他のチームの解答を予測して同じ解答を導き出す「Common Answer」，他のチームとは異なる唯一の解答を導き出す「One of a Kind」，洋楽のPVを見てその曲に関する問題に答える「Music Video」でした。
　正解するたびに拍手が沸き起こり，生徒たちは大いに盛り上がっていました。今回も熾烈なトップ争いの結果、１位に輝いたのはチーム「Margherita」。２位は「Hog-Hog」，３位は「Thursday Child..」でした。
　この後は，6月15日から21日まで1週間続くイベント「HELLO Village Week」を開催予定です。英語村ではこれからも，しっかりと感染予防対策を行いながら，英語や海外の文化に触れあう機会をできるかぎり提供していきたいと思っております。

　On May. 10th, there was an after-school event ‘Pub Quiz’ at HELLO Village. More than 30 students (7 teams) joined this event and enjoyed the quiz challenge from the Mayor Kris!
　The students worked together with other team-members for solving the following quizzes: ‘Word Search’ (finding meaningful words (items in school) from letters arranged in a grid-like way), ‘Picture Round’ (putting 10 most popular sight-seeing places in a right order), ‘Common Answers’ (guessing the same answer shared by other teams), ‘One of a Kind’ (guessing the unique answer not shared by other teams) and ‘Music Video’ (Watching a music video and answering the questions about it).
　Every time the answer was announced, HELLO village was full of cheers and applause! This time, the winner was the Team ‘Margherita’, followed by the second-place ‘Hog-Hog’, and the third-place ‘Thursday Child..’.
　We are planning to have the third cultural event, HELLO Village Week, next month from 15th to 21st. We are going to offer various opportunities for students to enjoy English and foreign cultures, taking appropriate preventive measures for protecting students from infection.

Easter Event @ HELLO Village

　4月19日の放課後，英語村においてイースターイベントが行われました。このイベントではまず，イースターの歴史や世界各国において現在も行われている伝統的なイースターのアクティビティについて，ALTのダニエルさんが説明してくれました。生徒たちは，ダニエルさんのプレゼンを楽しみつつ，イースターについて知識を深めました。
　その後は，まず一つ目のアクティビティとして，イースターエッグデコレーションを行いました。生徒たちは紙の卵に色を塗って自分だけのオリジナルのイースターエッグを作りました。次に，生徒たちはチームごとに分かれて，エッグハントを行いました。このエッグハントでは，校内に隠されたプラスチック製の卵を探し出し，ミッションをこなして，獲得した点数を競いました。生徒たちはチームで相談しながら校内を右往左往して卵を探し回り，文字通り身をもってイースターを体験しました。
　英語村ではこの後も5月10日にクイズ形式のイベントであるPUB QUIZを開催予定です。次回もしっかりと感染予防対策を行いながら，海外の文化に触れあう機会を提供していきたいと思います。

　On Apr. 19th, afterschool, Easter Event was held at HELLO Village. In this event, at first, our ALT, Daniel explained the history of Easter and what traditional activities people do in Easter. Students enjoyed listening to his interesting talk and deepened their knowledge on Easter.
　As the first activity, students made original paper Easter eggs. Then, as the second activity, they joined Egg Hunt which is a traditional activity in Easter. In this activity, they worked together with team members and looked for plastic eggs inside and outside HELLO Village. They walked around the school and literally experienced Easter through their bodies.
　In May, we will have the second event this year, Pub Quiz, which will be another chance for students to enjoy English. We will take appropriate measures for protecting students from infection.
