「HELLO Village Week2」第5日目（最終日）（その１）

We have come to the final day of “HELLO Village Week 2”. As always, there were many students competing with ALTs in various games during lunch time. After school, the final event of the week, “International Presentations” took place. As the theme of the week was the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, we had 3 guest speakers from Olympic nations of the past. The 3 speakers from the Kyoto Prefecture Friendship Ambassadors were Paul Schneider, a friendship ambassador from the United States, Ri Syougan, another friendship ambassador from China, and Maia Hall, a Kyoto Prefectural CIR from the United Kingdom. Each of the speakers made a presentation about their home countries, as well as the impact that being a host nation for the Olympics and Paralympics had. Each speaker made a wonderful presentation and gave the students plenty to think about. In particular, Maia’s quote from Ken Livingstone, the former mayor of London, which read “I didn’t bid for the Olympics because I wanted three weeks of sport,” left quite an impression. So, with less than 3 years remaining, what will we be able to learn and gain from the Games of 2020? Let’s be prepared so that we can make the most of the amazing experience.
As “HELLO Village Week2” comes to a close, we would like to extend our gratitude to all who took part in the event. We are sure that those who took part in the missions and the various events all gained something from their experience. 遂に、「HELLO Village Week2」が最終日となってしまいました。昼休みはいつものようにALTとゲームを楽しむ生徒で賑わっていました。放課後は、最後のイベントとして「INTERNATIONAL PRESENTATION」が実施されました。今回のテーマは「2020東京オリンピック・パラリンピック」です。そのテーマにふさわしく、過去にオリンピック・パラリンピックを開催された国から3名のゲストに来ていただきました。3名とも京都府国際課に所属され、京都府名誉友好大使でアメリカ出身のシュナイダー　ポールさん、同じく中国出身の李　少岩さん、京都府国際交流員のマヤ　ホールさんです。それぞれ30分程度、自国で開催されたオリンピック・パラリンピックを絡ませながら自国の紹介をされました。それぞれの特色を生かし、パワーポイントで美しい写真を交えた見事なプレゼンテーションでした。特に、マヤさんの発表の中で紹介されたケン・リビングストーンロンドン市長の「三週間のスポーツが欲しくてオリンピックを招致したわけではない。」というメッセージが印象的でした。さて、私たちは、「2020東京オリンピック・パラリンピック」を3年足らずで迎えますが、その時、何を学び、何を得ることができるのでしょうか？今からしっかり考えて、満足のいく答えが得られるように準備を進めましょう!!
これで、「HELLO Village Week2」は終わりますが、今回の取組に関わっていただいたすべての皆様に感謝いたします。イベントに参加したり、ミッションに挑戦した人は、きっと大きな成果があったことと思います。これからも英語村に足を運び、楽しみながら英語力を身につけてください。クリス村長やALTなど英語村スッタフは皆さんの来村を待っています!!
