On October 23, 2025, Kyoto Kogakuin’s English Café conducted the very first Eigolympics where four groups of students and teacher with five members each competed to win.
Eigolympics (Eigo Olympics) is a competitive, cooperative, and time bound series of language games that aims to expose learners to the English language in a fun and interactive way.
The Eigolympics kicked off at 3:30 PM at the Information Commons with five stations that all groups completed.
Each station has a challenge that participants must carry out with a time limit. The five games are as follows: Word Association, One-eyed Word Search, Shiritori, Jump Rope Twister, and Out of Order (Beer Pong).
The games aimed to expand the participants’ vocabulary, spelling, pronunciation, and grammar in the English language as well as to encourage sportsmanship and cooperation.
The activity culminated with the announcement of winners.With the goal of improving the English communication skills of learners,the English Café continues to provide opportunities for students to have fun
while learning through various activities like Eigolympics.
