The students formed small groups of five, each consisting of three Murasakino students and two Chevalier students. Together, they visited various places and enjoyed hosting the Chevalier students. The Murasakino students used their LHR (Long Homeroom) time to carefully plan their group activities in advance. They prepared short but enjoyable experiences unique to Japan and Kyoto, ensuring the Chevalier students could fully enjoy the outing. Activities included praying at Imamiya Shrine, shopping at a traditional snack shop, and enjoying Japanese games such as origami and “Bozu Mekuri” (a card game). While some Murasakino students seemed nervous and awkward at first, by the end, everyone had bonded with the Chevalier students. Each group created warm and joyful memories together. 2 Kyoto One-Day Tour: Part 2
After having lunch at the Doshisha University student cafeteria, the Chevalier students had a special opportunity to experience a Noh lecture and demonstration at the Kongō Noh Theatre. Following an explanation and performance by Mr. Kongo Tatsunori, the head of the Kongo school, five Chevalier students were able to perform a scene from the Noh play “Yashima,” which features the legendary warrior Minamoto no Yoshitsune, on an actual Noh stage. It was a truly priceless experience! The final activity of the one-day tour was an English-guided tour of the Kyoto Imperial Palace, where students took their time admiring the architecture and gardens. Thanks to the support of the PTA, the tour was filled with rich cultural experiences and was a great success! Chevalier Students Went on a One-Day Kyoto Tour!

Yesterday was a day full of Japanese cultural experiences. At lunchtime, the students attended a lecture on how to make onigiri and brew green tea. While struggling a bit with the steaming hot rice, they each made their own onigiri with their favorite fillings and enjoyed them together. At the end of the day, they had a kimono dressing experience. Dressed in vibrant kimonos, they took many photogenic pictures at places like the Aburi-mochi shop and Imamiya Shrine. Walking in unfamiliar geta sandals was a bit challenging, but it was a wonderful opportunity. Next Monday will be the Chevalier students’ final day at Murasakino High School. We hope they create many more wonderful memories until the very end. Recreation Time During LHR!
On Wednesday, December 11th, Chevalier students joined homeroom activities (LHR) with Murasakino students. At the end, everyone shouted “3, 2, 1, Australia!” for a group photo, creating a memorable and joyful time together. In other classes, Chevalier students played field games like "Cops and Robbers" on the large field, enjoyed snack parties, participated in quiz competitions, and more. In the English Communication class with 12th graders, Chevalier students gave presentations, followed by small group activities where they played prepared games and quizzes, creating a fun and lively atmosphere. At the end, everyone joined together to dance the Bush Dance, which was a huge hit. In the 7th period, Josh sensei from Chevalier gave a Drama Lesson, a rare experience in Japanese high schools. He likened our bodies to canvases and asked us to use “emotions” as paints to express our colors. Students embodied eight emotions, such as joy and fear, through physical movements. Finally, Murasakino and Chevalier students paired up to perform improvised emotional interactions, making it a truly valuable experience. In addition, Chevalier students joined other classes, including Logical Japanese with 11th graders and PE and English classes with 10th graders. All Murasakino students were actively enjoying their time with their new friends of the same age, their faces glowing with excitement. This long-awaited sister school exchange with Chevalier College, held for the first time in five years, has made the school atmosphere even brighter.
