HELLO Village Week I Day 5

　6月23日（金），HELLO Village Week I の５日目お昼休みは，「Hiyoshi Idol Talent Show」が行われました。英語村にはたくさんの生徒や先生が駆け付け，発表者たちの素晴らしいパフォーマンスを時には固唾を飲んで見守り、時には歓声を上げて応援していました。今回は７組の生徒グループがルービックキューブ、ピアノ演奏、ギター弾き語り、歌（伴奏あり），アカペラ、ダンスを披露してくれました。どのパフォーマンスにも，会場に集まった生徒・先生たちから，惜しみない拍手が送られていました。
　５日間にわたるHELLO Village Week I も本日で終了です。今回も非常に多くの生徒が英語村を訪れるという成果と共に，イベントを無事に終えることができました。これからも英語村では生徒たちが様々な経験をできる機会を提供していきたいと思います。

　On Jun.23rd, the last day of HELLO Village Week, we had the lunchtime event ‘Hiyoshi Idol Talent Show’. So many students and teachers came to this event and held their breaths or cheered for the students who were a bit nervous but showed their talents and made amazing performances. On the show, we had 7 student performances: dance, playing the piano, Rubik's Cube, singing a cappella, with instrumental accompaniment, or with a guitar. Each performance received generous applause from the audience!
　We are glad that so many students came to HELLO Village and attended events or did their missions during the week. We will offer more opportunities for students to have fruitful experiences in upcoming events at HELLO Village!

HELLO Village Week I Day 4

　HELLO Village Week I の４日目は，放課後にミッションの獲得ポイントが２倍になる「Globy Point Spree」が開催されました。多くの生徒たちがHELLO Villageを訪れ，英語の4技能が向上するように工夫された様々なミッションをこなしていました。例えば，子供の頃にお気に入りだった遊びことについてALTたちに１分間説明するスピーキングの課題をしたり，英語村で開催したいオリジナルのイベントを考え、それを説明するライティングの課題をしたりしていました。それ以外にも，生徒たちは友達にメッセージカードを書いたり，学校のどこかに隠されたグロービーからのメッセージを探し出すミッションなどをこなしたりしていました。

　On Jun. 22nd, we had the forth event in HELLO Village Week I, ‘Globy Point Spree’. In this event, students get double Globy points when they complete missions on the booklet.
　Quite a few students visited HELLO Village and carried out their missions after school. These missions are designed for students to improve their English skills. For example, one speaking mission is to talk about ‘favorite game/activity at childhood’ for one minute, and one writing mission is to create a new event at Hiyoshigaoka and express what it looks like. Moreover, in order to get Globy points, students enjoyed doing extra missions such as writing massages to their friends, and finding 5 hidden Globy massages around the school.

HELLO Village Week I Day 3

　6月21日（水）、HELLO Village Week I の３日目は、パブクイズが放課後に開催されました。日吉の生徒とアメリカの高校生たち総勢５０名ほどが８チームに分かれ、クリス村長から出題されるクイズに挑戦しました。生徒たちは様々なクイズを前に日米で協力し合い，楽しく交流の時間を過ごしていました。
　今回出題された問題は、碁盤の目のように並んだアルファベットから日本とアメリカのお菓子の名前を探し出す「Word Search」、トピックに関連するものを正しい順番に並べる「Put Them in Order」、「a country that starts with the letter ‘c’」といった質問に対して他のチームの解答を予測して同じ答えを導き出す「Common Answer」、「An item you bring to school everyday」といった質問に対して他のチームとは異なる唯一の答えを導き出す「One of a Kind」、そして洋楽のmusic videoを見て、それに関する問題に答える「Music Video Quiz」。生徒たちは正解が発表されるたび一喜一憂していました。
　HELLO Village Week Iも残り2日。明日はミッションをこなすとグロービーポイントが2倍もらえる「Globy Point Spree」が行われます。

　On Jun. 21st, the third day of HELLO Village Week I, we had the after-school event ‘Pub Quiz’. About 50 Hiyoshi and American students joined this event and faced Kris’ challenge. They worked together as the US-Japan joint teams for solving the following quizzes: ‘Word Search’ (finding Japanese and American snacks from letters arranged in a grid-like way), ‘Put Them in Order’ (putting things in the right order), ‘Common Answers’ (guessing the same answer shared by the other teams), ‘One of a Kind’ (guessing a unique answer not shared by the other teams), and ‘Music Video’ (watching a music video and answering the questions about it). Every time the right answer was announced, students wavered between hope and despair!
　We have two more days, and ‘Globy Point Spree’ will be held tomorrow.

HELLO Village Week I Day 2

　HELLO Village Weekの二日目は、放課後に「Conversation Cafe」が行われました。このイベントでは、英語村にアメリカの高校生がホストを務める10個のブースを設けられ、それぞれのブースにおいて日本とアメリカの生徒たちが10の様々トピックについて話し合いながら交流しました。各ブースのトピックは、家族、故郷、学校、将来の夢、趣味などでした。日米の生徒たちはお互いの話に耳を傾け、話し言葉だけでなく、身振りや手振りなどあらゆるコミュニケーションスキルを駆使して、言葉が簡単には通じないからこそ、「理解し合う」過程にいつも以上の喜びを感じていました。
　さて、今日で二日目のHELLO Village Weekはまだまだ続きます。明日は放課後に「Pub Quiz」が予定されています。

On the Day 2 of HELLO Village Week, there was an after-school event‘Conversation Cafe’. In this event, we had 10 booths at HELLO Village, each of which has (1) its own conversation topics and (2) American high school students as its hosts. For example, some topics are family, hometown, school life, dream, hobbies. Japanese and American　students listened carefully to each other and enjoyed struggling to make　themselves　understood by not just their languages but also any communication skills such as gestures.
　We still have three more days in HELLO Village Week, and will have an afterschool event ‘Pub Quiz’ tomorrow.

HELLO Village Week I Day I

　HELLO Village Week I（6月19日〜23日）が本日から始まりました。今回のテーマは「Exchange, Express, Experience」です。この言葉には、生徒たちが期間中に行われる各種ベントに参加して、学年、国、性別、職業、言語などの垣根を超えて人々と交流し、自己を表現しながら、様々な体験をしてほしいという思いが込められています。
　初日の今日は、アメリカの高校生25名ほども参加して、放課後イベントとして子供の頃に夢中で遊んでいた懐かしい「遊び」に焦点を当てた「Memory Monday」が行われました。このイベントでは、まず初めにALTが私たちが感じる懐かしさについて技術、食べ物、おもちゃの観点からいろいろと説明してくれました。次に、生徒たちは子供のことにしていた遊びについて、友達やアメリカの高校生たちと話し合いました。その後、日米の高校生たちは折り紙で鶴や手裏剣作りに挑戦し、イベントの最後にはALTが子供の頃に遊んだアクティビティを実際に体験しました。
　HELLO Village Week Iは、5日間の開催予定で23日（金）まで続きます。この後も、「Conversation Cafe」、「Pub Quiz」、「Hiyoshi Idol (Talent Show)」などイベントが目白押しです。

　HELLO Village Week I (Jun.19th-23rd) got started Today! The theme this time is ‘Exchange, Express, Experience’. In this week, we want students to communicate with others who have different backgrounds, express themselves, and have various experiences.
　On the first day, we had the afterschool event ‘Memory Monday’. Today, 25 American high school students from CIEE also joined this event. In the event, ALTs first explained nostalgia in terms of technology, food, and toys. Second, students shared their favorite childhood games and activities with friends and American high school students. Third, they with American students tried to make an origami crane and shuriken. Finally, they experienced the games and activities ALTs enjoyed when they were children.
　In HELLO Village Week I, we are going to have many more events such as ‘Conversation Cafe’, ‘Hiyoshi Idol (Talent Show)’, ‘Pub Quiz’ and so on.

ＢＴＳの１０周年記念パーティーが開かれました

６月１３日（火）の昼休みに英語村にて、ＢＴＳの１０周年記念をお祝いするパーティーが開かれました！

今や、韓国だけではなく世界を席巻するＫ−ＰＯＰグループのＢＴＳ。本校でも大人気のようで、英語村が満席状態となりました。

代表曲『ＢＵＴＴＥＲ』に合わせてダンスを披露する生徒も。あちこちから大きな声援が送られました！英語村でのイベントということで、ＢＴＳへの愛が試されるアンケートとクイズも英語で出題されました。さらに、英語村にいるＡＬＴの先生方とＢＴＳについて英語でおしゃべりをすると、ＢＴＳにとって特別な意味を持つ色である紫色のキャンディーがもらえます！大盛り上がりのお昼休みとなりました。

本校の英語村では、このように気軽に英語を楽しめるイベントが多数開催されています！
