「英語村」2月の市民向けイベント「Pub Quiz III」のお知らせ

2020年の第2弾の「英語村」市民向けイベントは、毎回好評の「PUB QUIZ」です。この「PUB QUIZ」は、グループに分かれてチームで相談しながら答えを導き出すクイズ形式のActivityで、お茶とお菓子を食べながら、自然な形で英語が身に付くとても楽しい企画です。今回もクリス村長がいろいろな難問奇問を用意して、皆様のチャレンジをお待ちしています。ＡＬＴやボランティアスタッフが優しくサポートしてくれますので英語が苦手な方も是非ご参加ください。

Open Event 'Exploring Art' @ HELLO Village

　１月２５日（土）、今年度５回目の一般市民向けイベント「Exploring Art」が英語村で開催されました。このイベントは、本校４人のALTたちと一緒に世界のアートを「探検」しつつ、英語を学ぼうというものです。
　前半部分では、ALTがそれぞれの視点から世界のアートに関して紹介してくれました。まず初めに、ジョンさんは「What is art?」や「What makes art famous?」といった難題で私たちの頭を大いに悩ませつつ、体を使ったパフォーマンスアートについて説明してくれました。次に、二コルさんは世界各地のアートがそれぞれ持つ独自のスタイルを１３の作品を例に話してくれました。また、ダニエルさんはアート史上に残るいくつかの問題作を「Weird Art」として紹介してくれました。最後に、エイスリンさんは、アートで使われる「材料」の観点から、とりわけガラスを使ったアートに注目してお話してくれました。
　後半は、参加者みなさんで大きな画用紙に共同作品を作りました。白い画用紙の上には、鮮やかな紙の花が咲いたり、オリジナルのマスコットキャラが不気味に笑ったり、多種多様なコラージュやモザイクが生み出されました。
さて、今年度の一般市民向けイベントは次が最後となり、２月２２日（土）に開催予定です。日程が近づきましたら、また日吉ケ丘高校HPからご案内をさせていただきます。本日は、寒い中ご参加いただき、ありがとうございました。

　The fifth public event ‘Exploring Art’ was held at HELLO Village on Jan. 25th. In this event, 4 ALTs led us to explore the World of Art.
　In the first half, four ALTs introduced art from different points of views. John helped us scratch our heads by giving difficult questions such as ‘What is art?’ and ‘What makes art famous?’ and also talked about performance art. Nicholl explained various styles of art by using examples from all over the world. Daniel introduced some controversial artworks such as Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain and John Cage’s ‘4’33’. Aislinn talked about art in terms of materials (especially glass) and focused on Dale Chihuly.
　In the second half, ALTs and participants together produced a collaborative artwork. On a big drawing paper, beautiful paper flowers were flourishing, unknown cute mascots were smiling weirdly, various collages and mosaics were created!

一般市民対象アクティビティ(2019年度)

令和2年の第1弾一般市民向けアクティビティは、年明けに相応しい初めての企画となる「Exploring Art」です。この企画は、日吉ケ丘高校に配属されたALT4名の共同企画です。参加した皆さんの創造を超えるARTの世界にお連れしたいと考えています。

今年最後の英語村イベント「Christmas Event」

去る12月19日（木）、2学期最後の英語村イベント「Christmas Event」が行われました。留学生たちも着物に着替えてイベントに華を添えてくれました。マックス君は、ニュージーランドの伝統的なケーキ「パブロバ」を作ってみんなに振る舞ってくれました。とても美味しかったです。イベントの最初に、雪の結晶作りをして雰囲気を盛り上げました。次に二列に分かれてモニターに映し出されたテーマについて向かいの人と、1分間英語で話し合いました。時間が経つとパートナーチェンジをして、また次のテーマに取り組みました。続いて、クリスマスに因んだクイズが出題され、iPadを通して出した答えの集計が即座にモニターに映し出されました。最後は、恒例のプレゼント交換です。音楽に合わせてプレゼントを隣の人に回して、止まったところで手に持っているプレゼントが自分のものになりました。ラッピングを開いてあちらこちらで歓声があがっていました。その後、記念撮影をしてイベントは終了しました。今年最後の英語村イベントでしたが、大いに盛り上がりました。令和2年が、良い年になることを願っています。皆様、良いお年をお迎えください。

High Globy-Point Scorers @ Awarding Ceremony

　12月20日（金）の終業式において、11月に行われたHELLO Village Week IIでグロービーポイントを多く獲得した生徒やクラスが表彰されました。
　個人の部：１年生では、松尾さん（１位）、下間さん（２位）、福田さん（３位）、２年生では山崎さん（１位）、Hollisさん（２位）、寺田さん（３位）、３年生では米田さん（１位）、相部さん（２位）、桑田さん（２位）、藤原さん（２位）がそれぞれ受賞しました。今回は前期に行われたHELLO Village Week Iよりも全体的にレベルが高く、個人歴代最高ポイントを獲得した生徒が出ました！
　団体の部：各学年でグロービーポイントを一番多く獲得したクラスに贈られる団体賞は、１−２、２−２、３−１がそれぞれ受賞しました。各学年とも1位と２位の差は僅差で、特に２年生は歴代２位と３位のクラスポイントを記録する熾烈な争いでした。１位を獲得したクラスには、その努力に十分見合う賞品として、お菓子盛り合せデラックスが送呈されました！

　On Dec.20th, the winners of the Globy-Point competition were awarded at the closing ceremony. In this competition, students and classes are ranked according to Globy points they earned.
　The winners in the Individual Division: Sora (the first place), Moeka (the second) and Kaisei (the third) in the first-grade; Yui (the first place), Max (the second) and Hana (the third) in the second-grade; Mio (the first place), Yuka (the second), Momoka (the second) and Ayumu (the second) in the third-grade. The competition this time was really fierce, and we indeed got the highest scorer in the long history of HELLO Village Week!
　The winners in the Class Division: 1-2, 2-2, and 3-1. In each grade, the points between the first and second place were quite close. Especially, the class battle in the second-grade got heated; 2-2 earned the second highest and 2-1 earned the third-highest in the history. Each winning class got the amazing reward that is worth the effort, i.e. assorted sweets and snacks!

一般向けイベント「Ireland Day」＠ HELLO Village

　12月7日（土）、今年度４回目の一般向けイベント「Ireland Day」が英語村で開催されました。このイベントでは、本校ALTのダニエルさんに、母国であるアイルランドの歴史や文化について熱く語ってもらいました。
　前半は、アイルランドの歴史をクイズ形式で紹介。参加者のみなさんにいくつかのグループに分かれていただき、「What is Poulnabrone Dolmen for?」、「What happens at Newgrange in the winter solstice?」、「What did St.Patrick eradicate from Ireland?」といった質問に答えることで、アイルランドの歴史について理解を深めていただきました。
　後半は、アイルランドの文化を実践形式で体験。まずは、ケルト人独自のオガム文字を使って自分の名前を書いたり、オガム文字で書かれた他の参加者の名前を読むという課題。名前の中にはとても長く複雑なものもあって、「解読」に時間がかかることも。次に、聖ブリジットの十字架作成。本来、材料として葦を使うところをカラーモールで代用し、とってもカラフルで個性的な十字架が誕生しました。最後は、ダニエルのアイリッシュダンス講座。複雑なステップを短時間で見事に習得した方もいれば、悪戦苦闘の果てに自分独自のスタイルを創作した方をいらっしゃいました。
　さて、今年の一般向けイベントはこれが最後になりますが、来年の一月下旬に今年度５回目の一般市民向けイベントを予定しています。日程が近づきましたら、また日吉ケ丘高校HPからご案内をさせていただきます。ご参加されたみなさま、寒い中をお越しいただきありがとうございました。

The forth public event ‘Ireland Day’ was held at HELLO Village on Dec. 7th. In this event, our ALT Daniel enthusiastically introduced his own country, Ireland.
　The first half was Quiz Time where participants answered questions about the history of Ireland, such as ‘What is Poulnabrone Dolmen for?’, ‘What happens at Newgrange in the winter solstice?’, and ‘What did St.Patrick eradicate from Ireland?’.
　The second half was Practical Training where participants directly experienced Irish cultures by using their bodies. The first task was to write and read names in Celtic Ogham. Some names are simple and short, but others are so long and complicated that deciphering was required! The second one was to make St.Brigid’s Cross. It is originally made of reeds, but ours were of pipe cleaners that made crosses more colorful and individual! The third one was Irish dance. Some participants are natural-born dancers and quickly learned difficult steps; others accidentally ‘created’ their own styles at the end of a desperate struggle!
　While this is the last open event this year, the fifth one is coming in late January. As usual, the information will be on this Website as the date gets closer. See you next time!

HELLO Village Week II Day 5

　HELLO Village Week II 5日目は、最終日恒例の「Pub Quiz」が開催されました。お昼休みに英語村に集まった生徒たちは9チームに分かれ、クリス村長とALTジョンから出題されるクイズに挑戦しました。今回の問題は、碁盤の目のように並んだ文字から意味のある言葉を探し出す「Word Search」、2010年代の出来事について答える「2010s」、他のチームの解答を予測して唯一の解答を導き出す「One of a Kind」でした。生徒たちは、一問ごとに解答が示されるたび、ガッツポーズをしたり、頭を抱えたりと、大いに盛り上がっていました。
　HELLO Village Weekが開催された五日間、本当に多くの生徒が英語村を訪れ、英語で様々なイベントやミッションに参加していました。これからも、ここ英語村で、友達、先生、ALTたちと共に、充実した時間を過ごしてくれることを願っています。

　On Day 5 of HELLO Village WEEK II, as usual, we had the last event ‘Pub Quiz’ at lunch time. Students came to HELLO Village with their lunch boxes and accepted the following quiz challenges from Kris and John: ‘Word Search’ (finding meaningful words from letters arranged in a grid-like way), ‘2010s’ (Answering questions concerning events and products in 2010s ), and ‘One of a Kind’ (Guessing a unique answer which is different from the other teams). Whenever an answer was announced, some students raised their arms in triumph but others tore their hair.
　So many students visited HELLO Village, joined various events, and did their missions in English this week. We hope that, from now on, more students will come and enjoy time here at HELLO Village, with friends, teachers and ALTs.

HELLO Village Week Day 4

　HELLO Village Week II 4日目は、昼休みに「Talent Show」が開催されました。チャイムと共に多くの生徒たちが英語村に走り込んできました。エントリーは6チーム。Danceが2組、Sing a Songが３組、Magicが1組でした。どのステージも会場との一体感が素晴らしく、時間が経つのを忘れるくらい楽しいひとときでした。日吉ケ丘高校は、多彩な生徒達で満ち溢れていました。エントリーしてくれた皆さん、ありがとうございました。
　放課後は、ENGLISH RAKUGOの時間でした。落語家の喜餅氏によるオールイングリッシュの楽しい落語でした。喜餅さんは、日本国内各地の大学や企業をはじめ、アメリカやフィリピン、中国など海外でも英語落語を開催し、グローバルな活躍をされています。顔の表情やしぐさなども含めて落語の楽しさを十分満喫することができました。ありがとうございました。

　On Day 4 of HELLO Village WEEK II, a popular event ‘Talent Show’ was held at lunch time. A number of students rushed to HELLO Village shortly after the lunch-time chime! We had 6 team entries: two for dancing, three for singing, and one for magic. Each performance was so magnificent that the audience was totally immersed into the show without perceiving the passage of time. A lot of talents were actually ‘latent’ in Hiyoshigaoka. Thank you, great performers!
　We had ‘English Rukugo’ after school. Kimochi, a Rukugo performer, gave Rukugo in English. Kimochi is famous for his English Rukugo performance in foreign countries such as United States, Philippines, and China, in addition to Japan. His facial expressions and body language as well as verbal expressions fluently told us how fun Rukugo is. Thank you very much, Kimochi!

HELLO VIllage Week II Day3

HELLO Village Week IIの3日目は、昼休みに「Music Video Viewing」が開催されました。生徒たちはお昼ご飯を食べながら、ミュージックビデオを見たり、ALTたちとJENGAやCONNECT 4などのゲームをして、グロービーポイントを稼いでいました。また、英語の授業の一環として、多くの生徒が英語村を訪れ、ALTたちと一緒に英語でミッションをこなしていました。
三日目の放課後は「Kris Cup Speech Contest」が行われました。一年生９人、二年生８人、そして留学生１人がそれぞれの体験に基づき、それぞれの視点から自分自身の考えを述べました。一年生は、湊美葵さん「Just Be Yourself」が一位、櫻谷日南さん「Dance is My Life」が二位、柴田まりんさん「Foreign Language」が三位でした。二年生はトラウデン都仁さん「Love Your Neighbor」が一位、吉田ひかるさん「Comedy in the World」が二位、西田優衣さん「The Role of Spots for World Peace」が三位でした。それぞれが個性的なスピーチで、大いに盛り上がりました。スピーカーのみなさん、お疲れ様でした！

　On Day 3 of HELLO Village Week, we had ‘Music Video Viewing’ at lunch time. Students watched music videos and played games such as JENGA and CONNECT 4 for gaining Globy points. Also, some English classes were held at HELLO Village and so many students visited here and did their missions in English with ALTs.
　After school, we had 'Kris Cup Speech Contest'. 9 first-grade students, 8 second-grade students, and 1 international student gave a speech, based on their experiences, from their points of views. About the first-grade students, the results are Miki Minato ‘Just Be Yourself’ (the gold prize), Hina Sakuradani ‘Dance is My Life’ (the silver prize), and Marin Shibata ‘Foreign Language’ (the bronze prize). About the second-grade, the results are Toni Torauden ‘Love Your Neighbor’ (the gold prize), Hikaru Yoshida ‘Comedy in the World’ (the silver prize), and Yui Nishida ‘The Role of Spots for World Peace’ (the broze prize). Each speech was quite unique and really exciting. Thank you very much, all the speakers!!

HELLO Village Week II Day 2

　HELLO Village WEEK II２日目は、昼休みにグロービーポイントが２倍になる「GROBY POINT SPREE」がありました。多くの生徒たちがALTとJENGAを楽しんだり、他のミッションに取り組んで、グロービーポイントの獲得に励んでいました。その他に、授業で英語村に来ている生徒もいました。
　放課後は、生徒による「プレゼンテーション」が３本ありました。まずは、文部科学省が主催するトビタテ留学生JAPAN高校生コースに参加した生徒によるカナダでの報告がありました。続いて夏休みに実施された「東京フィールドワーク」に参加した生徒達による発表がありました。発表の後、『Diversity ＆ Inclusionを実現する日吉ケ丘高校を作ろう！』をテーマにグループ討論を行いました。そのあと、各グループで議論された内容について報告がありました。とても充実した時間になりました。最後に、夏休みから２か月間オーストラリア姉妹校・ヌーサ高校に留学した生徒たち２名による発表がありました。
　現在交換留学生として日吉ケ丘高校に来ている生徒たちの自主活動の充実ぶりに未来の可能性を感じました。
　
　On Day 2 of HELLO Village Week, we had ‘Groby Point Spree’ (double points promotion) at lunch time. Many students tried to complete missions such as playing JENGA with ALTs for Groby points. Some students also came to HELLO Village during their classes for this event.
　Today’s after-school events were three ‘Student Presentations’. In the first talk, a student who joined Tobitate Study Abroad Program reported her activities in Canada. In the second presentation, students who joined Tokyo Fieldｗork talked about their experiences this summer. After the talk, students had group discussions concerning ‘How to realize Diversity and Inclusion in Hiyoshigaoka’, and then shared their ideas. As the final presentation, two students who studied for two months at Noosa High School, Australia, gave a talk about their fruitful and unique school-life there.
　We hope two international exchange students from Noosa who currently stay at Hiyoshigaoka will also have such a wonderful time here.
