小学生イベント「HELLO 英語であそぼう」

On July 25th, 60 3rd grade elementary school students from Kyoto City came to HELLO Village to take part in an event called HELLO English. After a speech from the Kris, the village mayor, and self-introductions by the ALTs, the students watched a short movie produced by the Hiyoshigaoka ALTs and played a short janken game. After the opening ceremonies, the students were divided into 6 groups and went to an event booth. Each of the event booths was run by ALTs from Kyoto City, and introduced a different country (France, Greece, Egypt, Spain, China and Australia) through various games and activities such as puppet shows and quiz questions. The children all seemed to really enjoy the different activities as well as communicating with the ALTs in English. The children received a stamp on their HELLO Village passport after each booth, and also received original HELLO Village pens and stickers for their participation in the event. The Superintendent of Education in Kyoto City, Mr. Arita, also attended the event and seemed pleased to see how engaged all of the children were. Our deepest thanks to all of the ALTs and everybody else involved in preparing for this event. We hope to see all of you again next year!

7月25日（火）、京都市内に住む、京都市立小学校3年生60人が英語村にやってきました。初めにオープニングセレモニーがありました。クリス村長の挨拶、ALTの自己紹介の後、日吉ケ丘高校ALTが作成した楽しいムービーを見た後、みんなでジャンケンゲームをしました。その後のイングリッシュ・タイムでは、10人で1つのグループを作り、６つのグループに分かれました。ALT達が、フランス・ギリシャ・エジプト・スペイン・中国・オーストラリアの6つのブースに分かれて、それぞれの国に関わるゲームや人形劇、クイズなどの楽しいイベントを準備していました。どのブースでも子供たちの歓声が聞こえ、楽しみながら、英語に親しんでいました。すべてのブースを回った後、パスポートに6つのスタンプを押してもらい、参加者全員が賞品の特製ボールペンとステッカーをもらって喜んでいました。在田教育長も視察に来られ、夢中で取り組んでいる子供たちの姿をご覧になって満足そうにしておられました。この日のために準備をして下さったALTや関係者の皆さんに心より感謝申し上げます。また、来年同じような機会があれば是非参加してください。

７月２０日（木）１学期終業式が行われました。古池校長から、１学期に活躍した部活動の表彰と共に、「HELLO Village Week」で熱心に取り組み、グロービーポイントをたくさん集めた個人と、団体の表彰式が行われました。英語村の１日あたりの入村者数は、昨年度より約３０人増え、１日平均１００人を越えました。特に、この「HELLO Village Week」に、更に多くの生徒が集まり、活気に満ち溢れていました。表彰式では、個人賞の各学年上位３位までと、団体賞の各学年で最もグロービーポイントを集めたクラスが表彰されました。中でも２年次生で優勝した２人は、すべての行事に参加し、ミッションをクリアしました。３年次生は、３位が同点だったので２名表彰されました。今回、上位入賞を果たした皆さんと各学年の団体賞に輝いたクラスの皆さんおめでとうございます。今回の受賞を糧に更に精進していただきたいと願っています。
秋に今年度２回目の「HELLO Village Week」を企画しています。皆さん、楽しみながらミッションに挑戦してください。

平成２９年度第１回パーラメンタリーディベート講習会

７月１５日（土），平成２９年度第１回パーラメンタリーディベート講習会が本校英語村で開催されました。京都府下の公立高校１０校から学校混成チームも含め１０チーム（１チーム３人編成）と，１３校から教員１８名が参加しました。日吉ケ丘高校からは，２年次生から２チーム（男子チームと女子チーム）が出場しました。
最初にＰＤＡ代表理事の大阪府立大学の中川先生よりルール説明，その後，ジャッジとして今回来られていた，京都大学，同志社大学の学生の方よりモデルディベートを披露していただきました。
その後，早速１ラウンドがありました。１ラウンド目の論題は，”Convenience stores should be closed late at night”でした。ここでは本校男子チーム１チームが西京高校と対戦して勝ちました。２ラウンド目の論題は，”It is better for university admission test takers to have a boyfriend/girlfriend”でした。２ラウンド目は日吉ケ丘高校は２チームとも勝ちました。
最後にベストディベータの発表がありましたが，本校からは２年次生の清水茜音さんと寺井絢人さんが選ばれました。
２年次生は英語の授業でディベート活動を行っています。英語力はもちろんのこと，多面的に物事を考えたり，論理的に自分の意見を述べたりする力が求められます。今回の結果は普段の取り組みの成果を感じさせるラウンドでした。

「HELLO Village Week」第５日目（最終日）

We closed “HELLO Village Week” with “LUNCH TIME PUB QUIZ” during lunch time. Kris, the mayor of HELLO Village, hosted a Pub Quiz, and ten teams excitedly participated. The first activity was a “Words Search.” Students had to find words related to HELLO Village from a sheet full of random letters. They worked hard to find the answers in groups while they had lunch. The second quiz was “Unscramble the Word.” Students had to unscramble the letters to make names of cities in the world. The last quiz was from a music video. Students had to remember details of the video to answer questions. Lunch break was short, but students really enjoyed their time and spoke English.

This was the first time for us to hold “HELLO Village Week.” With help of teachers, more students joined than expected. Some students participated in all programs and did all the missions. We are going to award the students and the classes who participated in the events throughout the week.

We will hold the second “HELLO Village Week” this autumn. We will make more events in order for students to enjoy the event and improve their English skills. We appreciate everyone who supported us for HELLO Village Week.

本日（6/30）昼休みの「LUNCH TIME PUB QUIZ」で、「HELLO Village Week」のプログラムがすべて終了しました。クリス村長が進行役を務め10チームが参加し、大いに盛り上がりました。まず、ワード探しクイズではHELLO Village内にあるものの名前を答える問題でした。みんな昼食を取りながらグループごとに必死で答えを探していました。次の問題は、アルファベットを並べ替えて世界各国の都市名を当てる問題でした。こちらも文字数が多くなるとかなりの難問でした。最後はミュージックビデオを見て、その中から出題される質問に答えるものでした。昼休みの限られた時間でしたが、参加した生徒は楽しみながら自然な形で英語に親しんでいました。
今回、初めて「HELLO Village Week」を実施しました。どれくらいの生徒が参加するか不安でしたが、関係教科や担任教員の協力もあり、多くの生徒が参加してくれました。中には、すべての行事に参加し、すべてのミッションをクリアした生徒もいました。頑張ってポイントを貯めた生徒や、最も多くのグロービーポイントを獲得したクラスには団体賞を授与する予定です。今回の取組を踏まえて、また、秋に第2弾の「HELLO Village Week」を実施する予定です。生徒諸君の更なる英語力の向上につながるような取組を進めたいと考えています。

「HELLO Village Week」第４日目

Today(June29th) was the fourth day of "HELLO Village Week". From today, the second half of "HELLO Village Week" stared. During today's lunch time, we had an event titled, "ALT You Tube Mix", in which students watched movies on You Tube in English. After school, a "TALENT SHOW" was held. A lot of students with special talents participated in this event.　At first, one student gave a piano performance. Next, the students did a lot of things like singing a cappella, performing calligraphy, dancing, and beatboxing. Also, some staff members of HELLO Village sang a song and played the guitar. This made the event more exiting, and finally, we played "Mario Kart". The mood reached its peak at that time. Thank you to all performers and the people who came to event. Tomorrow is the last day of "HELLO Village Week". The final event is a "LUNCH TIME PUB QUIZ". Let’s have a good time to the end!!


「HELLO Village Week」も後半に入り４日目です。今日の昼休みは「ALT You Tube Mix」と銘打って、英語に関わるYou Tube画像をみんなで鑑賞しました。放課後は、「TALENT SHOW」でした。多彩な才能の持ち主がたくさん参加しました。まずは、ピアノ演奏に始まり、アカペラ歌唱、書道パフォーマンス、ダンスパフォーマンス、ビートボックスと続き、英語村スタッフによるギター演奏と合唱で更にヒートアップし、最後に英語バージョン「スーパーマリオゲーム」で最高潮に盛り上がりました。「TALENT SHOW」の出演者の皆さん、観客の皆さんご苦労様でした。「HELLO Village Week」も金曜日の「LUNCH TIME PUB QUIZ」を残すのみとなりました。最後まで楽しんで行きましょう!!

「HELLO Village Week」第3日目

Today was the third day of "HELLO Village Week." The ALTs and students who came to HELLO Village watched the TV show, "GLEE". Usually, a lot of students are in here at lunch time, but because of "HELLO Village Week", the terrace and communication space was filled with students. In the afternoon, about 20 foreign students came from Kyoto University, and they interacted with the students who are in the third grade of Global Course. After school, "BRITISH DAY" was held. At first, two ALTs, Alan and Nicholl, who are from the UK, did a presentation about their native country. They said that the UK is composed of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, and they also talked about famous English people.
Later, the students who had taken part in "BRITISH HILLS" English Camp in Fukushima gave a presentation and some quizzes. They learned about British manners in the dining room, which was just like in the movie, "Harry Potter". They also acted in the play, “Momotaro" in English. We were able to understand what they had experienced in "BRITISH HILLS".
Afterwards, participants enjoyed gesture games. Finally, the ALTs served British biscuits and royal milk tea. It was a very fun and tasty event!

本日（6/28）は、「HELLO Village Week」中日の3日目です。昼休みは、集まった生徒たちとALTで「GLEE」を鑑賞しました。昼休みはいつも多くの生徒で賑わっていますが「HELLO Village Week」に入ってからテラスやコミュニケーションスペースは、大入り満員の状態です。午後は、京都大学の留学生が来られ、3年Gコースの生徒との交流会がありました。グループに分かれて楽しそうに交流を深めていました。放課後は、「BRITISH DAY」が行われました。最初は、イギリス（UK）出身のALTアランさんとニコルによるイギリスに関するプレゼンテーションがありました。イギリスは、イングランド・スコットランド・ウェールズ・北アイルランドの4つの地域から出来ていることや、イギリス出身の有名人など色々とためになる発表でした。後半は、昨年末に福島県の「BRITISH HILLS」研修に参加した生徒たちによるプレゼンテーションとクイズがありました。ハリーポッターに出てくるような食堂でのマナー講座や桃太郎の英語劇に取り組むなど英語漬けの3日間の様子が良くわかりました。参加者全員でジェスチャーゲームを楽しんだ後、最後にイギリス式でクッキーとロイヤルミルクティをいただいて「BRITISH DAY」は終わりました。楽しくて美味しいイベントでした。

「HELLO Village Week」第2日目

June27th was the second day of "HELLO Village Week". Student enjoyed "READING" MISSION, in which they read English books in HELLO Village, "SPEAKING" MISSION, where they sing a song, and so on. They watched English versions of "Pokemon" and "Sponge Bob" as "Lunch Time Cartoon" in the lunch hour. They felt puzzled a little because they know "Pokemon" well but it was dubbed. However, they enjoyd it. Afer school, "SHODO EVENT" was held. The members of calligraphy club supported the other students so that they could have a good time. At first, they practiced drawing on Japanese paper many times, and after that, they made a final copy on a fan. Some students are not used to using a writing brush. However when they finished it, they cheered and looked satisfied. We realized that calligraphy does expresse Japanese traditional sentiment!

本日（６/２７）は、「HELLO Village Week」の二日目です。生徒たちは、英語村に置いてある英語の本を読む「READING」のMISSONや、英語の歌を歌う「SPEAKING」のMISSIONなどに楽しそうに取り組んでいました。昼休みは、「LUNCH TIME CARTOON」と題して、「ポケモン」と「スポンジボブ」の英語吹き替え版をみんなで鑑賞しました。慣れ親しんだ「ポケモン」が、英語で吹替えられていて、何か違和感を感じながらも英語のセリフを楽しんでいました。放課後は、「SHODO EVENT」が行われました。書道部員の皆さんが、参加者が楽しめるように、丁寧に教えていました。初めは、半紙で何度も練習した後、最後に団扇にそれぞれ思い思いの文字を清書しました。日頃は筆を持ちなれない生徒たちも、出来上がった時には歓声を上げ、満足そうにしていました。やはり日本の心と言えば「書道」ですね！！今日は、そのことを改めて実感する機会になりました。

「HELLO Village Week」始まる！

In HELLO Village, there is a week called, “Hello Village Week” from Monday June 26th to Friday 30th. We have many kinds of missions at HELLO Village and our school, will also hold special events at lunch time and after school so that many students will come here.
On the 26th at lunch time, we had an opening event. Ms. Wada was the emcee, and Mr. Furuike, the principal of Hiyoshigaoka High School, made a greeting in English, also the student chairperson of HELLO Village, and Kris, the village mayor, gave a message and introduced the weekly mission.
After them, Mr.Oe, the executive director of HELLO Village, did a calligraphy performance. Finally, we prayed for the success of the event by opening a decorative paper ball called Kusudama. We expect a lot of students to participate in this event!

英語村「HELLO Village」では、６月２６日（月）〜３０日（金）までの１週間を「HELLO Village Week」と銘打ち、英語村を更に活用してもらうために、昼休みと放課後にスペシャルイベントを企画したり、英語村や校内を舞台に色々なミッションを用意しています。２６日の昼休みに、そのオープニングを記念して、オープニングイベントが行われました。和田先生の司会で、古池校長の英語による挨拶で始まり、英語村委員長の挨拶、クリス村長からメッセージとこの一週間のミッションの紹介などがありました。その後、大江事務局長による「書道パフォーマンス」が行われ、最後にＡＬＴを交えて「くすだま割り」を行い、イベントの成功を祈念して終了しました。多くの生徒がこのイベントに参加してくれることを期待しています。
