Calligraphy Classes in HELLO Village

On December 8th and 14th, there were calligraphy classes in HELLO Village for the ALTs and exchange students. The teacher was Mr.Oe, the Executive Director of English Village. In the first lesson, he talked about the history of Chinese characters and how calligraphy was introduced to Japan. After the explanation, they learned how to draw horizontal and vertical lines with a brush on Japanese writing paper. Then they practiced drawing lines many times. It seemed a little difficult to begin and end a line with the appropriate amount of pressure. In the second class, they chose their favorite Chinese character such as love, friendship and dream, and they made their own special calligraphy composition.

１２月８日、１４日の両日、英語村でＡＬＴの先生方と留学生を対象に書道教室が実施されました。講師は英語村の事務局長の大江先生。最初の時間には漢字の由来や、書道の由来の説明があり、その後、筆を使って半紙に縦線、横線の基本的な書き方を学びました。線を書くときの最初と最後の力の入れ方が難しそうでした。２回目の時間では、各自好きな漢字を選び、挑戦しました。全員きれいな作品に仕上がりました。
