HELLO Village Week2 I has begun!

Between November 16th and the 22nd, the 2nd HELLO Village Week is being held to encourage more students to come and become familiar with the facility. The theme for this week is the “2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.” The opening ceremonies were held during lunchtime on the 16th, beginning with a promotional video produced by our 3rd grade HELLO Committee members. After the video got everybody’s attention, 2 of our 2nd grade HELLO Committee members began hosting the ceremony. The ceremony included a speech by our principal, Mr. Furuike, then a message from the vice-president of our HELLO Village class representatives, Chiho Yoshioka, followed by an explanation of the week’s events by the village mayor, Kris Ohashi. The ceremony ended with a performance by the school’s brass band club.
As the first after school activity of the week, we had a presentation by students who participated in the Tokyo Field Work activity during the summer vacation. This year, the field work focused on the Paralympics and barrier-free environments. The students talked about their experiences interacting with various people while learning and discussing these issues during their summer study tour, and also gave a quiz to the participants about barrier-free environments. The presentation ended with the participants taking some time to walk around and look for places that are and are not barrier-free around the school, and the realization of the importance communication and awareness to make the environments around us safe for everyone.

「HELLO Village Week2」始まる!！
11月16日（木）〜22日（水）までの１週間、英語村が更に身近な存在になることを願って、今年度2回目の「HELLO Village Week2」の取組が始まりました。今回のテーマは、「2020東京オリンピック・パラリンピック」です。16日昼休みにオープニングセレモニーが行われました。いきなり3年ハロコミ委員が制作したプロモーションビデオがスクリーンに映し出され、参加者の心を鷲掴みにしたところで、2年生ハロコミ委員２人の司会でセレモニーが始まりました。古池校長のご挨拶のあと、吉岡英語村副委員長からのメッセージあり、クリス村長からアクティビティの内容やミッションの紹介などがありました。最後に、吹奏楽部の素晴らしい演奏で開会式が締めくくられました。今後、一人でも多くの生徒や教職員が英語村を訪れることを願っています。
　放課後は、「HELLO Village Week2」のアクティビティ第１弾として、この夏休みに東京フィールドワークに参加した生徒たちによるプレゼンテーションが行われました。今年はパラリンピックに注目し、バリアフリーについて研究しました。実践女子大学の学生や東京近隣の高校生たちとバリアフリーについての話し合いや、体験を通して感じたことなどの報告がありました。次に、グループごとにバリアフリークイズに挑戦しました。最後に、校内のバリアを見つけるフィールドワークに出かけました。エレベータや渡り廊下を設置して相当バリアは取り除かれたはずでしたが、まだまだ段差がありスロープの設置などハード面の改善が必要であるとともに、ソフト面である心のバリアを取り除き、声を掛けたり手助けをすることも大切であるという結論に達しました。
