Global Kids in Student City

On September 2, Global Kids in Student City event was held at Student City. It is an event for elementary students to enjoy using English, while selling and buying products at the career education facility of Kyoto City. Everything was done in an all-English setting. Ten Hiyoshigaoka high school students participated in this event as newspaper reporters and made a newspaper in English. It was challenging for them to write an article about what they saw or interviewed, but when the newspaper was completed, they looked so satisfied.
At the end of this event, the newspaper was distributed to each of the elementary student at the closing ceremony. They said that it was really difficult to write an article in English but it was great experience for them too.

9月2日に，「Global Kids inスチューデントシティ」が京都市のキャリア教育施設「生き方探究館」で行われました。この行事は，小学生が英語を使いながら買い物体験をするもので，すべてが英語で行われました。日吉ケ丘高校からは10人の生徒が参加して，その様子を取材し，最後には英字新聞にまとめました。取材内容を記事にすることは生徒たちにとっては非常に難しいことでしたが，新聞が仕上がったときには非常に満足した様子でした。最後の閉会式では出来上がった英字新聞が小学生全員に配布されました。生徒たちもこのような形で英語に関わる経験は非常に有意義なものだったと感想を述べていました。
