一般市民向けアクティビティ「Summer Around the World」大盛況！

去る6月30日（土）、一般市民向けアクティビティ第2弾として「Summer Around the World」を開催しました。クリス村長の司会で始まり、まずは集まられた皆さんで「日本の夏」から連想するものを考えていただきました。「お祭り」「花火」「浴衣」などが出されました。続いて、本校ALTでイギリス出身のニコルさんからイギリスでの夏の想い出のお話があり、その後「夏の音」を聞いてその音が何の音かを考え、耳から夏を感じました。次に、アメリカ出身のジョンさんからアメリカの夏についてのお話がありました。続いて、ルーツをジャマイカに持つミッキーさんからダンスの紹介があり、参加者みんなでリズムに乗って踊り、ジャマイカの夏を体感しました。音楽が流れると自然に体が動き出しとても楽しかったです。休憩時間にはアイスクリームやドリンク片手に英語での会話がはずみました。後半は、アリソンさんから夏の食べ物の紹介などがあり、最後には、グループごとに考えた自分たちのお祭りについての発表があり和気あいあいとした楽しい時間が終了しました。今回も常連の皆さんから初めて参加された皆さんまで老若男女、多種多様な人々の交流の場となり、楽しく英語を学ぶ機会となりました。参加された皆さんありがとうございました。次回の予定は9月29日（土）です。また、ひと月前頃に本校HPに実施要項をアップいたします。どうぞ、楽しみにお待ち下さい。

On Saturday, June 30th, the second public event of the school year took place in HELLO Village. Beginning with a small introduction by Kris, the “Summer Around the World” event saw the ALTs look into how summer is spent and celebrated by people all over the world. The audience learned about the weather in the U.K, the custom of going to cottages and getting summer jobs, got a lesson in dancehall in Jamaica and summer traditions of indigenous peoples in Canada. The participants were also treated to an ice cream break, before the event finished with the groups planning their own original summer event and presenting it to everybody to hear. This event saw a record number of participants, with many new faces along with many of our regular participants. Thank you all for your participation! We hope that everybody enjoyed the event as much as we did, and look forward to seeing you all again! The next event is scheduled for Saturday, September 29th. 「HELLO Village Week1」第5日目

あっという間に「HELLO Village Week1」最終日を迎えました。最終日はランチタイムのイベントとして「PUB QUIZ」が行われました。会場は、「PUB QUIZ」に参加する生徒たちで溢れかえっていました。「PUB QUIZ」に初めて参加する生徒も多く、ワード当てクイズなど各テーブルで楽しみながら取り組んでいました。「HELLO Village Week1」最後のイベントとして最高の盛り上がりを見せていました。この一週間で多くの生徒や教職員が英語村に足を運びました。これを機に、更に英語村がより身近なものになり、英語に親しんでもらえることを期待して「HELLO Village Week1」を締めくくりたいと思います。また、秋に「HELLO Village Week２」を実施する予定です。楽しみにお待ちください。

Today is the final day of HELLO Village Week, and to finish the event a lunch time Pub Quiz was held. All of the seats were filled with students wanting to participate, with some students standing because they had nowhere to sit. The students all had a great time and laughed a lot throughout the quiz. Many students and teachers visited HELLO Village throughout the week, and it is our hope that this will encourage everyone to come out more often. We hope you all enjoyed the week. HELLO Village Week 2 will take place in the fall. We look forward to seeing everybody take part again.

「HELLO Village Week1」第４日目

「HELLO Village Week1」第４日目の放課後は、「WORLD DEBATE PRESENTATION」が行われました。発表してくれたのは、今年の1月に開かれたPDWC高校生パーラメンタリー世界大会に参加した3年生男子生徒3名です。今年は，イギリス，フランス，ナイジェリア，イスラエルなど世界各国から12チームが参加，また日本からも12校が参加しました。その大会の様子を動画や写真を交え臨場感あふれるプレゼンテーションが繰り広げられました。大会に参加した当初は、緊張していた様子が画面を通して伝わってきましたが、日が経つにつれ海外の生徒たちとの交流も深まり、ディベートの対戦でも4回の対戦がありましたが、最後の対戦となったモンゴルチームから初勝利を挙げることができました。海外の友人も増え、とても有意義な時間を過ごしたようでした。後半は、参加者で「パーラメンタリーディベート」を実際に体験しました。ほとんどの生徒が初めての経験でしたが、みんな真剣な表情で取り組んでいました。ALTやパーラメンタリーディベートに参加した経験のある学生ボランティアも加わり、白熱した対戦が行われ、大変充実した時間となりました。終わった後、もっと勉強したいと感想を話す生徒や、思い通りに英語が話せずに悔し涙を流す生徒もいました。今日の貴重な経験がきっと今後の人生の大きな糧になると信じています。プレゼンをしてくれた3名に感謝します。

On the 4th day of HELLO Village Week, we had our “World Debate Presentation” performed by 3 third-year students who took part in the Parliamentary Debate World Competition in the previous school year. The students shared their thoughts and memories from their wonderful experience through their words, photographs and some video footage from the event. They talked about how much they saw themselves grow through competing and spending a week with people from various other countries, winning their final match against the team from Mongolia. The students who came to watch the presentation also learned how to debate and along with the ALTs, participated in a mini-practice debate. Although it was the first time for many of the students, everybody did a fantastic job and felt motivated to do even better next time. Thank you to all for coming out, and especially to the three students for such an amazing event.
